Job Summary

SpaceX is seeking a highly skilled Propulsion Engineer to join our Raptor Components team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing cutting-edge engine control components that will enable the Raptor engine to operate in extreme thermal, pressure, and vibe environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, analyze, build, test, and fly components for simplicity, manufacturability, and reliability.
  • Develop state-of-the-art, manufacturable, 99.9% reliable flow control devices.
  • Safely implement thorough component testing and checkouts across multiple build and test sites.
  • Spearhead root cause investigations and implement corrective actions.
  • Set the standard for rigorous component design and qualification testing.
  • Partner with supply chain, manufacturing, testing, and flight teams to achieve high factory yield and automotive volume/cost.
  • Coordinate team of peers through informal leadership and self-directed program organization.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering discipline or physics.
  • 1+ years of experience designing and analyzing mechanical systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.
  • Strong leadership project management skills and experience.
  • Master's degree or 1+ years of professional experience in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
  • Experience designing, building, testing and troubleshooting mechanical systems.
  • Understanding of fundamental principals in fluid systems, solid mechanics, and/or electrical systems.
  • Hands-on experience with fluid, gas, mechanical, high voltage, or test instrumentation and control.
Additional Requirements
  • 10% travel in support of hardware testing and launch operations.
  • Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
Compensation and Benefits

Pay range: Propulsion Engineer/Level I: $95,000.00 - $115,000.00/per year, Propulsion Engineer/Level II: $110,000.00 - $130,000.00/per year.

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. You may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of company stock, stock options, or long-term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan.

You will also receive access to comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, access to a 401(k) retirement plan, short and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, paid parental leave, and various other discounts and perks.

You may also accrue 3 weeks of paid vacation and will be eligible for 10 or more paid holidays per year.
