Job Title: Optical Test and Characterization Engineer
Job Summary:
Basic Solutions is seeking an experienced Optical Test and Characterization Engineer to join our team. As an Optical Test and Characterization Engineer, you will be responsible for characterizing optical components and modules of AR/VR Displays.
Key Responsibilities:
- Characterization of optical components and modules of AR/VR Displays
- Performing tests across different components and modules, including roughness or profile measurements, thickness, flatness, and parallelism, color profile or spectral response, image quality metrics such as MTF, PSF, etc., and polarization
- Alignment of optical components for testing and characterization
- Setting up and managing demos to engineers and other focus groups around the quality and performance of a system
- Creating test experiments and jigs to perform analysis on optical components
- Collecting and performing statistical analysis on metrology data to correlate to performance metrics
Requirements:
- Hands-on experience with various optical metrology tools such as MTF testers, interferometers, profilometers, spectrometers, ellipsometers, microscopes, etc.
- Experience in working in an optical lab and knowledge of best laboratory practices
- Knowledge of geometrical and physical optics
- Knowledge of imaging optics, image quality metrics, optical metrology, and characterization
- Knowledge of color measurement principles
- Experience in test automation (instrument control and data collection) using LabView, MATLAB, or Python
- Ability to script and prototype image analysis algorithms in MATLAB or Python
- 3+ years of relevant experience in industry or academics
- Degree in optics, optical engineering, physics, electrical engineering, or related field is preferred
