Job Title: Youth Care Specialist

Lutheran Services Florida (LSF) is a leading provider of social services, and we are seeking a dedicated Youth Care Specialist to join our team.

About the Role:

This is a direct service delivery position that requires a high level of dedication and commitment to providing quality care to youth ages 10-17. As a Youth Care Specialist, you will be responsible for supervising residents, providing a safe and secure environment, and transporting and accompanying residents with outside activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide a supportive environment for youth, promoting their emotional and psychological well-being.
  • Ensure the daily security and upkeep of the facility, maintaining a clean and safe environment.
  • Participate in the implementation and monitoring of client case plans, working collaboratively with the team to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and other events as directed, staying up-to-date with best practices and industry developments.
  • Assist with supervision of residents during activities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Effectively manage behavior and supervision of residents during activities, using positive reinforcement techniques and de-escalation strategies.
  • Assign and supervise chores, promoting a sense of responsibility and teamwork among residents.
  • Prepare meals as needed, ensuring the nutritional and dietary needs of residents are met.
  • Screen clients, conduct initial intakes, and administer client satisfaction surveys, gathering valuable feedback to inform service delivery.
  • Complete required initial paperwork for clients, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Oversee shelter clients self-administering medication, ensuring their health and well-being are prioritized.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with a valid state driver's license and proof of auto insurance.
  • Experience working with youth/troubled youth in an organized/structured setting is preferred, with a strong understanding of child development and behavior.
  • Dependability, discretion, and good judgment are essential, with the ability to establish effective relationships with clients, co-workers, and the general public.
  • Certified CPR/First Aid, crisis intervention, and other relevant certifications are required within the first 90 days of employment.
