Special Education Teacher

At Macon County Schools, we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our team.
Job Summary:The Special Education Teacher will be responsible for providing high-quality educational services to students with disabilities, ensuring they receive a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) that meets their individual needs.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for each student, setting learning goals and adapting modifications as necessary.
- Collaborate with classroom and homeroom teachers to ensure each student's needs are met and plans are followed.
- Implement IEPs, provide ongoing assessments, and track progress, making modifications as needed.
- Develop and teach engaging lessons for small groups and individual students, meeting required specifications of IEPs.
- Ensure programs comply with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and provide FAPE to each applicable student.
- Develop, complete, and maintain all necessary paperwork, adhering to local, state, and federal guidelines, laws, and regulations.
- Maintain knowledge of special education teaching methods, research, and best practices through professional development and study.
- Establish and enforce a classroom management structure and rules, ensuring the academic engagement and physical and mental safety of all students.
- Celebrate the achievements and successes of students.
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education required.
- Appropriate state license or certification required.
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout the school and classroom.
- Ability to lift up to 45 pounds at a time.
- Ability to assist students with physical difficulties.
- Ability to kneel, sit, stand, crawl, push, and pull to assist and teach children throughout the day.
- Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer to complete necessary paperwork.
