Position Overview

The Assistant Building Maintenance Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing the administrative, financial, personnel, and technical dimensions of the maintenance program within a designated department, collaborating closely with the Building Maintenance Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Oversight: Develop and track operating budgets, providing monthly or annual expenditure reports.
  • Personnel Management: Supervise full-time, part-time, and work-study student employees, ensuring maintenance activities are conducted within budgetary limits.
  • Staff Development: Promote staff proficiency through targeted training programs and performance evaluations.
  • Equipment Oversight: Acquire necessary tools and manage work scheduling utilizing the CMMS system.
  • Resource Management: Optimize scheduling for staff, including full-time, part-time, and work-study student workers based on available resources.
  • Facility Assessment: Conduct regular evaluations of facility performance.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Engage in emergency response initiatives.
  • Energy Efficiency: Advocate for energy conservation measures and waste reduction strategies.
  • Project Management: Represent and assist with departmental facility projects in collaboration with district management personnel.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience (one year of education may substitute for two years of related work experience) along with 4 to 6 years of progressively responsible management experience is required. A solid understanding of the specialized area within the department is essential for effective analysis, planning, and decision-making.

Demonstrated leadership capabilities in directing personnel and processes to ensure efficient departmental operations are necessary. Completion of mandatory supervisory training within the first year of employment may be required. A Master's degree in a related field is preferred.
