Fleet Operations Supervisor

Position Overview:

The Fleet Operations Supervisor is tasked with managing the logistics of freight transportation and overseeing the fleet's performance. This pivotal role reports to the Operations Director or Terminal Director. The Fleet Operations Supervisor engages in identifying challenges, recognizing solutions, and implementing systems to improve driver satisfaction and service excellence. They foster a team-oriented environment that reflects the core values and mission of Cowan Systems.

Wednesday-Saturday

Tuesday-Saturday

Leadership Responsibilities:

Direct oversight of Professional Drivers, both directly and indirectly.

Key Responsibilities:

Driver Engagement

  • Enhance driver relationships and ensure satisfaction
  • Facilitate the onboarding process for new drivers through a structured 12-week program
  • Regularly assess driver performance and income objectives
  • Advocate for drivers and relay important updates
  • Participate in driver mentorship and recognition initiatives
  • Guide and support the fleet in areas of productivity, customer service, and compliance
  • Confirm driver schedules and provide essential information

Safety Management

  • Promote a culture of safety and address any concerns
  • Ensure fleet adherence to DOT regulations

Client Relations

  • Track driver progress and respond to client needs
  • Escalate client issues as necessary

Operational Coordination

  • Efficiently dispatch the fleet and ensure data integrity
  • Identify and document additional charges
  • Evaluate fleet performance and pinpoint areas for enhancement

Asset Management

  • Oversee equipment levels and conduct inspections

Team Leadership

  • Manage team training and performance evaluations
  • Inform management of any performance-related concerns

Qualifications:

  • Experience in fleet management is preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with TMS
  • Understanding of DOT and safety standards
  • Strong customer service and problem-solving abilities
  • Flexibility to adapt and work outside regular hours as required
  • Willingness to travel as necessary
