Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Automotive Technician to join our team at Arizona State University. As a key member of our Facilities Development and Management department, you will be responsible for repairing and maintaining vehicles and equipment across multiple campuses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Repair and maintain vehicles and equipment to ensure they are in good working condition
  • Monitor and maintain assigned groups of vehicles, including regular washing schedules
  • Order parts from suppliers and track service records, labor, and material costs
  • Perform tune-ups, minor overhauls, and replace regular wear components as needed
  • Perform electrical work on vehicles as needed
  • Use diagnostic equipment to locate vehicle defects
  • Perform emission control repair, replacement, and testing on required vehicles
  • Road test vehicles to locate operational defects prior to returning to active use
  • Operate shop machinery as needed for repairs
  • Field rescue, repair, and maintenance of Grounds equipment when needed
  • Drive University vehicles and/or carts
Requirements
  • Four years of experience in the diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of automobiles and/or heavy equipment
  • OR Completion of a one-year vocational training program in automotive mechanics and three years of experience in the diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of automobiles and/or heavy equipment
  • OR Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved
  • Valid US Driver's license of the appropriate class and required endorsements throughout employment
Working Environment

This position is located on the Polytechnic and Tempe campuses. You will be regularly exposed to potentially hazardous conditions, including intense noise, dirty environments, and extreme temperatures. You will also be required to wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and follow safety protocols.
