School Health Services Coordinator

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Elementary School Nurse to join our team at Education Service Center. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality health services to students, promoting health and safety education, and collaborating with school staff to ensure a healthy school environment.
Key Responsibilities- Health Services
- Provide direct care to students using professional assessment skills, the nursing process, and established school health protocols.
- Assess student problems, communicate with parents, and ensure appropriate referrals and follow-up as needed.
- Notify parents of accidents or illnesses and secure emergency medical care for students as needed.
- Develop and implement individualized healthcare plans (IHPs) and evaluate outcomes of skilled and direct nursing care and procedures for medically fragile students.
- Instruction
- Participate in the development of campus health education curriculum and educate faculty and staff on health-related topics.
- Provide health education to individuals and groups, including contributing to campus communications to parents and the local community regarding health issues.
- Consultation
- Collaborate closely with campus principal and other staff to ensure a healthy school environment.
- Participate in Admission, Review, and Dismissal Committee (ARD) meetings of students with identified health needs and develop Individual Health Plans (IHPs).
- Advise campus administration in crisis or emergency situations and participate in assessment and reporting of suspected child abuse.
- Administration
- Work with school district lead nurse to develop and coordinate the continuing evaluation of campus health program and make changes based on findings.
- Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required, including clinic records and accurate and confidential student health records.
- Requisition supplies and equipment needed to maintain clinic inventory.
- Comply with policies established by federal and state laws, Texas Department of Health rule, State Board of Education rule, and board policy.
- Professional Development
- Maintain professional nursing skills and knowledge as required by the Texas Nurse Practice Act and the Texas Board of Nursing.
- Graduate of an accredited professional nursing education program.
- Valid registered nurse license (RN) from the Texas Board of Nursing.
- Current automatic external defibrillator (AED) and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certificates.
- Three years nursing experience preferred.
The Elementary School Nurse will work in a fast-paced school environment, interacting with students, parents, and school staff. The successful candidate will be able to work effectively in a team environment, prioritize tasks, and maintain confidentiality.
The Elementary School Nurse will be required to lift, push, and pull objects weighing up to 45 pounds, and may be required to restrain students in emergency situations. The position will also involve exposure to biological hazards, bacteria, and communicable diseases.
The Elementary School Nurse will be expected to maintain emotional control under stress and work with frequent interruptions.
