Afterschool Educator

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Afterschool Teacher/Tutor to join our team at the Southeast Ventura County YMCA. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in providing a safe and engaging environment for children to learn and grow.

• Program Planning and Implementation: Plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate and developmentally appropriate program activities that promote learning, socialization, and physical activity.
• Child Development and Supervision: Nurture children through purposeful programming, making ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child's progress.
• Communication and Relationships: Cultivate positive relationships with parents, engage them as volunteers, and maintain effective communication to ensure a collaborative approach to child development.
• Behavioral Support: Use positive reinforcement techniques to address children's behavioral concerns and promote a positive learning environment.
• Staff Meetings and Training: Attend scheduled staff meetings, trainings, and complete all assigned online trainings to stay up-to-date on best practices and YMCA policies.

• Education and Experience: Meet educational and experience qualifications established by state law, including completion of at least six postsecondary semester units of specified early childhood education classes or a valid Child Development Assistant permit issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
• Age and Certification: Be at least 18 years of age and hold current certifications in CPR, First Aid, and Preventative Health through an EMSA recognized organization.
• Physical Demands: Ability to stand and/or sit for extended periods, wade in water, walk continuously, and spend a full workday outdoors in any weather condition.
• Other Requirements: Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and maintain a clean and safe environment for children.
