Job Summary

A Polysomnographic Trainee develops competency in and performs basic sleep testing procedures and associated interventions. The sleep trainee works under direct supervision of a sleep technician or technologist.

Responsibilities
  • Develops competency in and performs basic sleep testing procedures and associated interventions.
  • Works under direct supervision of a sleep technician or technologist.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A high school diploma or GED plus six months of direct patient care experience or one year of post-secondary education (minimum 2 semesters of college).
  • Current enrollment in an accredited educational program leading to a certificate or associate degree with an emphasis in sleep technology.
  • Possession of another healthcare credential/license AND enrollment in and completion of program or ASTEP course and advancement to technician level within 18 months of hire.
  • Completion of, or enrollment in, an ASTEP program or equivalent as approved by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine/Board of Registered Polysomnography Technologists within 18 months of hire.
  • CPR/BLS.
