Key Responsibilities:
As a Project Engineer, you will support the Superintendent and Project Manager in overseeing various aspects of construction projects, including financial management, cost reporting, and field operations. This role is primarily field-based.
- Assist with pre-construction tasks such as planning, design interpretation, and understanding specifications and drawings.
- Communicate and enforce company safety policies and procedures effectively.
- Interpret project specifications and prepare quantity takeoffs.
- Create drawings and sketches to facilitate construction work, change orders, and estimates.
- Verify quantities for invoicing and maintain accurate logs of submittals and shop drawings.
- Ensure accurate completion of craft time cards and verify cost codes for all expenditures.
- Maintain as-built drawings and manage RFI logs.
- Participate in constructability reviews and value engineering initiatives.
- Develop and implement project engineering procedures and documentation tracking.
- Take weekly photographs of the job site for record-keeping.
- Collaborate with the Safety Department to maintain accurate safety records.
- Assist in quality control and project status reporting, including participation in meetings and documentation of minutes.
- Support project close-out activities and assist with estimates as needed.
Essential Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:
- A four-year engineering degree or equivalent technical training and experience.
- 2-4 years of field construction experience.
- Preferred E.I.T. certification.
- Strong mentoring abilities for less experienced team members.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction plans.
- A solid understanding of cost analysis and estimating.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to travel as required.
Physical Requirements:
This position requires the ability to:
- Carry tools and equipment, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Stand and walk for extended periods, handle and manipulate objects.
- Work on uneven surfaces and wear steel-toed boots at all times.
- Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds frequently.
- Perform tasks in various outdoor conditions and confined spaces.
