The Liquid Transport Specialist plays a crucial role in executing designated milk receiving and transportation tasks to guarantee satisfaction among customers, team members, and suppliers. This position involves the collection, transportation, and delivery of raw milk from agricultural producers to processing facilities, supporting the production of dairy products.
Key Responsibilities:
Accountable for meeting specified objectives in transportation, safety, quality, performance, and cost management.
Alerts relevant personnel about mechanical issues to enhance productivity and equipment functionality, conducts daily inspections before and after pickups and deliveries, and submits daily reports regarding the truck's operational status.
Records load amounts and issues tickets to milk producers.Delivers all collected samples to designated locations.
Cleans and sanitizes trucks inside and out on a daily basis.
Ensures compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and corporate or plant policies, rules, and regulations.
Provides assistance and support to all transportation and receiving areas as directed by supervisors or leads.
Addresses staffing requirements as assigned by their supervisor or lead.
Adheres to all legal standards related to dairy processing and safety during their assigned shift and reports to their supervisor or lead.
Operates in a safe manner, promptly reporting safety concerns to their supervisor or lead, and takes corrective measures as necessary to maintain a safe work environment.
Responsible for reporting food safety issues and initiating appropriate actions while supporting Safe Quality Food (SQF) standards by upholding food safety and quality.
Ensures that work areas are clean and strictly follows sanitation protocols.Facilitates effective communication between shifts and across departments.
Essential Skills and Knowledge:
Proficient in applying basic to advanced mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, along with knowledge of weights and measures to effectively manage job tasks.
Capable of understanding and responding appropriately to various inquiries from employees, vendors, and customers.Able to read, write, and communicate in English sufficiently to perform job functions (additional language skills may be considered based on business needs).
Familiarity with the company's mission, objectives, and the individual's role in achieving them.Competent in operating transportation and facility equipment as required in the assigned area.
Successfully completes all company training requirements.
Ability to interpret company documents and literature.
Education and Experience:
A minimum of a GED or High School Diploma is preferred.
A valid NYS Milk Receiver's license is required.
A valid CDL A with Air Brake and Tanker endorsement is necessary.
Familiarity with NYS DOT regulations and safety equipment is required.
Performance Expectations:
Expected to report to work at scheduled times and communicate any tardiness or absences to the assigned Supervisor/Manager in advance.
Must arrive at work in a condition suitable for performing job duties.Required to maintain a professional appearance and dress in appropriate business attire at all times, ensuring compliance with GMP dress code standards and personal protective equipment.
Must adhere to performance criteria and standards of conduct as outlined in company policy and the employee handbook.
Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment and promptly reporting and addressing any safety concerns.
Expected to complete all assigned tasks and responsibilities as directed.Work Schedule:
Availability for morning, afternoon, and overnight shifts any day of the week is required based on assigned schedules. Must be flexible to work varying hours and days, including holidays.
Requests for specific days off must be communicated in advance and approved by the Supervisor/Manager.
Hourly Expectations:
Typically scheduled for 45-50 hours per week; additional hours may be necessary based on business needs.
Environmental Considerations:
May be exposed to diverse weather conditions and temperature fluctuations, including hot, cold, wet, humid, and windy environments.
Potential exposure to ingredients used in food product manufacturing, including allergens.May encounter chemicals utilized in the manufacturing and sanitation processes of a food processing facility.
Physical Job Requirements:
Ability to navigate throughout all areas of the work environment, including but not limited to production and warehouse settings.
Must be able to wear all necessary personal protective equipment to perform job functions.Capable of standing and/or sitting continuously while performing job duties for an entire shift, including meal breaks.
Physically able to stand, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist, lift, push, pull, climb, balance, crouch, handle, and move items weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance and move heavier objects with reasonable accommodations.
Must be able to climb ladders.Visual acuity must be corrected to perform job functions effectively.
Work Location:
The compensation range for this position considers various factors, including skill sets, experience, training, licensure, certifications, and other organizational needs.
At Byrne, it is uncommon for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the compensation range for their role, as decisions are based on the specific circumstances of each case.
A reasonable estimate of the current wage is $30.00.This position is also eligible for a sign-on bonus of $5,000, which will be disbursed in increments during the candidate's first year of employment.
