Surgical Support Specialist

This role is essential for the preparation and management of surgical instruments and equipment during designated surgical operations, adhering to the standards set by the healthcare facility and department. The individual will also be responsible for executing specific patient care tasks as delegated by a Registered Nurse, Physician, or Director/Manager/Supervisor.
The Surgical Support Specialist will:
- Establish and uphold a sterile environment, ensuring the timely passing of instruments and sutures to the surgeon, while providing assistance as required.
- Collaborate effectively in team planning and execution of surgical procedures.
- Exhibit clinical proficiency in the handling and maintenance of all surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with traffic control, dress codes, and sanitation protocols within the operating room.
- Be knowledgeable about the facility's policies regarding the decontamination, processing, and sterilization of all surgical instruments and supplies.
- Demonstrate the ability to perform assigned patient care duties in a manner that addresses the specific needs of the diverse patient population served by the department.
- Adapt patient assessment and care methods to meet the unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, and developmental requirements of each patient.
Qualifications:
A High School Diploma or equivalent is required, with a preference for candidates possessing two or more years of relevant experience. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory.
