The individual will also be responsible for executing specific patient care tasks as delegated by a Registered Nurse, Physician, or Director/Manager/Supervisor.

The Surgical Support Specialist will:


  • Establish and uphold a sterile environment, ensuring the timely passing of instruments and sutures to the surgeon, while providing assistance as required.
  • Collaborate effectively in team planning and execution of surgical procedures.
  • Exhibit clinical proficiency in the handling and maintenance of all surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with traffic control, dress codes, and sanitation protocols within the operating room.
  • Be knowledgeable about the facility's policies regarding the decontamination, processing, and sterilization of all surgical instruments and supplies.
  • Demonstrate the ability to perform assigned patient care duties in a manner that addresses the specific needs of the diverse patient population served by the department.
  • Adapt patient assessment and care methods to meet the unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, and developmental requirements of each patient.

Qualifications:
A High School Diploma or equivalent is required, with a preference for candidates possessing two or more years of relevant experience. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory.
