CompensationThe starting salary for this position ranges from $19.50 to $23.88 per hour, depending on factors such as experience, education, and job responsibilities. Your base pay will be determined based on these considerations.
About the JobAs a Resident Care Associate, you'll provide personal care, companion care, nursing assistance, and other assigned tasks to residents living in Eskaton communities. This role involves direct resident care, assisting with daily living activities, grocery shopping, errands, and documentation of care provided. The duties and assignments may vary based on an evaluation of resident needs by the Resident Care Coordinator, Memory Care Coordinator, or Wellness Nurse.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Providing companion care, which may involve reading, visiting, answering personal correspondence, and assisting with bill paying or other tasks outlined in the resident's plan of care.
- Assisting with bathing or showering to maintain thorough cleanliness and hygiene of the resident.
- Making beds, straightening rooms, and maintaining the resident care area in an organized manner.
- Assisting residents with dressing when needed and demonstrating respect for individual privacy while providing care.
- Preparing light meals at the direction of the resident, as noted on their plan of care.
- Assisting residents in scheduling medical appointments or other vital services indicated by the plan of care. You may also accompany residents to appointments upon request.
- Promoting appropriate levels of independence in resident care and being aware of safety for both residents and staff in providing care.
- Assisting residents with simple range of motion or exercises as directed by nurses or therapists and ambulating residents according to their endurance levels.
- Applying medical or adaptive devices as ordered by physicians, physician extenders, or supervising nurses.
- Collecting specimens as directed by the Resident Care Coordinator, Memory Care Coordinator, or Wellness Nurse.
- Providing respite services for spouses and/or other family members.
- Participating in and/or leading activities as instructed by the Activity Director and Resident Care Coordinator, Memory Care Coordinator, or Wellness Nurse.
To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
- Proficient ability to communicate orally and in writing in English.
- Six months' experience in providing personal care in a residential or long-term care setting, preferably with valid/current first aid certification.
