About the Role

USAA is seeking an experienced Associate Actuary to join our Specialty Lines team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing actuarial models to support the company's mission and goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish statistical plans and analytical tools to analyze product experience, reserves, and catastrophes.
  • Assist in setting pricing objectives by making forecasts and projections, and developing strategies to support the company's mission and goals.
  • Utilize actuarial modeling software to develop new products, project future results, reprice existing products, and determine financial strength.
  • Monitor competitive market trends and professional research to maintain knowledge of current activities related to products, regulation, and market conditions.
  • Creatively approach problems and issues from a wide range of perspectives to determine innovative techniques.
  • Champion and implement innovative solutions to business initiatives, and provide training to team members on change and improvement.
  • Represent USAA's interests at industry-level committee meetings, and provide data to other departments for management purposes.
  • Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree, or 4 years of related Actuarial/business/analytical experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required for a total of 8 years) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • 4 years Actuarial/business/analytical experience + Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS).
  • Experience in developing Innovative Actuarial Analyses/Processes.
  • Experience in metric development/monitoring.
  • Strong communication/presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Intermediate experience using Python.
  • Some experience using Earnix.
  • Experience building and interpreting Generalized Linear Models (GLMs).
  • Strong Actuarial pricing expertise with experience in using a variety of pricing methodologies and models.
  • Experience being part of a project team (to include leading and managing projects) in an Agile framework.
  • Experience working on multiple projects, managing competing priorities, and strong partnerships with multiple business partners.
  • Personal Lines Pricing experience.
  • US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner.

USAA offers a competitive salary range of $120,550 - $230,400, based on experience and market data. Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance.
