Position Overview:
The Student Nurse Extern I (SNE I) is responsible for performing tasks typically associated with nursing assistant roles. Additionally, SNEs may undertake other responsibilities as instructed in their nursing education curriculum, provided they are adequately prepared and competent to execute these tasks.
It is essential for the designated supervisor to independently assess and document the competencies of the student to ensure successful execution of the responsibilities outlined in the SNE Job Description.
Under the guidance of a Registered Nurse, the SNE I contributes to delivering optimal patient care while continuing their education as a Nursing Student in good standing.
This role provides nursing students with invaluable experience in a clinical environment.
Reports to: Inpatient Nursing Director
FLSA: Non-exempt
Minimum Qualifications:
Educational Requirements:
Proof of acceptance into a Registered Nursing academic program is required. Candidates must be currently enrolled in an accredited nursing school within the United States.
Candidates must maintain good standing with their accredited nursing institution.
Current enrollment in the first or second semester of a Degree Nursing Program is necessary.

Certifications:
BLS certification from the American Heart Association is required upon hire. If BLS is not from AHA, the new hire will have 30 days to obtain it. (If ACLS is current, BLS is not mandatory).
Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work independently are essential. Candidates must be capable of functioning in a high-pressure environment and taking appropriate actions.
