Job Overview Summary:

The Registered Dietitian is responsible for planning and implementing the nutrition care of patients in accordance with federal, state, and local standards, clinical guidelines, and company policies. They provide oversight to ensure safe and accurate food service is provided to patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Completes annual competency testing and maintains professional growth and development portfolio to maintain registration and licensure/certification
  • Performs job based on applicable federal, state, and local regulations, company policies, and evidenced-based clinical guidelines
  • Monitors quality assurance in the kitchen by ensuring quality measures are routinely done, spot checking logs for accuracy, and ensuring safe, sanitary conditions
  • Participates in the survey process, instructs staff in matters of conduct and disclosure, and maintains a presence while surveyors are on-site
  • Undertakes corrective action while survey is in progress, if appropriate, and works with departments to develop survey plan of correction
  • Conducts initial and reassessments on all patients, ensures proper completion of documentation, and prescribes nutrition therapy to meet estimated needs
  • Provides ongoing reassessment to ensure optimal nutrition therapy is provided and participates with Interdisciplinary Team meetings to develop, implement, and monitor nutrition care plans
  • Interviews patients, family members, and legal representatives to obtain diet history and other pertinent information needed to develop and/or update plan of care
  • Advocates for patients to protect and promote patients' rights and accommodates individual needs and cultural/religious preferences
  • Coordinates with Food Service Director to resolve patients' concerns or dissatisfactions with diet or meal service
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in dietetics or nutrition-related field
  • Registration from the Commission on Dietetic Registration
  • Licensure and/or certification from the State Licensing Board for Dietitians
  • Food Protection Manager Certification from an ANSI-CFP accredited program
  • Two years of experience in Long Term Care and Rehabilitation preferred
Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to be patient while interacting with challenged or difficult residents
  • Basic computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office, word-processing, and spreadsheet software
