Position Overview:
The Long-Term Care Eligibility Analyst is responsible for assessing initial and ongoing eligibility for various public assistance programs. This role is situated within the Long-Term Care Eligibility Unit and emphasizes a thorough understanding of MaineCare policies. The analyst may also engage in quality assurance activities by reviewing eligibility determinations made by colleagues. The work environment is dynamic, requiring high standards of customer service and program accuracy. The analyst will collect sensitive personal information to ensure timely and precise eligibility assessments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct interviews with clients to gather and evaluate all necessary facts, data, and documentation related to applications or recertifications for public assistance.
  • Assess information and apply relevant standards and criteria.
  • Communicate program eligibility requirements, rules, and individual rights to clients and their representatives.
  • Review and analyze information for accuracy; identify discrepancies; request necessary documentation; verify and validate data.
  • Respond to inquiries and direct clients to appropriate programs.
  • Accurately input data into automated systems to ensure correct eligibility outcomes.
  • Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with clients, colleagues, and other agencies.
  • Perform intermediate mathematical calculations as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all applicant and recipient information.

Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, candidates must possess a combination of education, training, and/or experience totaling four years in providing direct assistance to individuals or groups, or in determining client eligibility within a business, legal, or social services context. This experience should demonstrate strong interviewing and data collection skills necessary for making eligibility determinations, resolving claims, processing transactions, or addressing customer service inquiries. Alternatively, a Bachelor's Degree in social services, public or business administration, or a related field is acceptable.
