Position Title: GIS Specialist at Barr Engineering Company
Overview:
  • Engagement in GIS activities such as map and figure development, data formatting and editing, data stewardship, analytical tasks, and quality assurance.
  • Acting as the primary internal advisor for GIS initiatives.
  • Recognizing, assessing, and conveying GIS best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Utilizing aerial imagery along with raster and vector datasets.
  • Conducting database entries, queries, and management tasks.
  • Collaborating with diverse teams to produce high-quality GIS deliverables.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in GIS or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 16 credits in GIS coursework.
  • Proficiency with Esri's ArcGIS software.
  • Familiarity with public data repositories.
  • Capability to work autonomously or collaboratively.
  • Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational abilities.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Certification in Geographic Information Systems.
  • Practical experience with mobile data collection tools.
  • Experience in GPS data gathering and processing.
  • Skills in scripting or programming.
  • Prior experience with various software applications.
Work Environment:
  • Challenging terrains, steep inclines, and dense vegetation.
  • Potential involvement in construction and industrial environments.
  • Participation in a drug screening program may be required.
