Job Title: Psychiatrist/Medical Health Director

Join Metro Community Health Center as a Psychiatrist/Medical Health Director and play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and coordination of direct patient services within our health center. As a key member of our team, you will administer to the needs of our patients by following the scope of practice and standards of care accurately.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide Medical Intervention: Direct medical intervention for patient well-being through accurate and timely diagnosis and delivery of relevant, high-quality medical care.
  • Leadership and Direction: Provide leadership and direction to non-physician clinic staff, ensuring the delivery of competent, accurate, medical care and treatment to all patients as assigned.
  • Charting and Recordkeeping: Ensure accuracy, efficiency, and appropriate confidentiality with patient charting and related recordkeeping and administrative functions as assigned.
Operational Excellence:
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the delivery of all medical treatment and care is consistent with all regulatory, accreditation, and professional standards, including clinical policies and quality initiatives.
  • Protocol and Procedure: Understand and ensure all practices and procedures related to the delivery of medical services are consistent with contracted protocols and procedures.
Relationship Management:
  • Patient Relationships: Develop and ensure favorable relationships with all patients and their families, achieving commitments from patients to adhere to an effective plan of care.
  • Vendor and Payor Relationships: Develop and ensure favorable relationships with vendors, contractors, and payor sources.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Develop and ensure ongoing, positive relationships and collaboration with other physicians, nurses, administrative, and clinic operations staff.
Professionalism and Stewardship:
  • Professional Conduct: Ensure all actions, job performance, personal conduct, and communications represent the organization in a highly professional manner at all times.
  • Compliance and Mission: Uphold and ensure compliance and attention to all corporate policies and procedures as well as the overall mission and values of the organization.
Management Responsibilities:
  • Clinical Program Development: Management and leadership in the following areas of the mental health department: clinical program development, clinical supervision/collaboration of/with LPCs, LCSWs, and PMHNP, case consultation, clinical outcomes, training and development, and implementation of best practices.
  • Clinical Leadership: Serves as the clinical leader for Mental & Behavioral Health, and in partnership with the designated medical and administrative leadership, leads opportunities to coordinate and integrate Mental, Medical, and Dental Health Care practice.
Primary Tasks and Duties:
  • Service Delivery: Assures the direction, planning, and evaluation of service delivery, outcomes, and operations in Mental Health, aligned with the desired outcomes of the strategic plan.
  • Comprehensive Assessment: Comprehensive physical assessment; evaluating, diagnosing, and treating new and existing patient's mental health conditions.
  • Collaboration and Referral: Collaboration with Primary Care Providers and Mental Health Services, initiating and interpreting labs and x-ray studies, including CTs & MRIs, performing medical procedures, prescribing and referring patients for specialized consultation.

  • Medical Knowledge: Demonstrate high degree of knowledge and competency in the practice of medicine and associated charting requirements.
  • Problem-Solving: Demonstrate a high level of problem-solving skill to better serve patients and staff.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Computer Skills: Ability to utilize computers for data entry and information retrieval.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Operational Implementation: Ability to implement and evaluate operational and administrative processes.

Education:

  • M.D. Degree: M.D. from an accredited educational institution.
  • Licensed to Practice: Licensed to psychiatry in the State of Pennsylvania.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to manipulate objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
