Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Gas System Operator to join our team at Con Edison. This is a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment where you will be responsible for operating and maintaining our gas transmission and distribution systems.

About the Role

This position requires a strong background in utility system operations, with a focus on gas engineering. You will be working closely with our control room team to ensure safe and efficient operation of our systems, as well as performing routine maintenance tasks to prevent equipment failures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain gas transmission and distribution systems to ensure safe and reliable service to customers;
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks to prevent equipment failures and reduce downtime;
  • Work collaboratively with the control room team to respond to system emergencies and restore service to customers;
  • Develop and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and productivity;
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and company policies.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field;
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in utility system operations, preferably in gas engineering;
  • Strong knowledge of gas and hydraulic pressures and flows;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays;
  • A valid driver's license.
Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position is $85,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as a 401(k) retirement plan.
