Position Summary: The Vice President of Mechanical Engineering for Medical Robotics plays a pivotal role within the leadership team at Triton. This individual will spearhead a team dedicated to advancing a next-generation robotic endoscope, making this a strategically significant position within the organization.

The ideal candidate will exhibit enthusiasm and dedication in a fast-paced, collaborative medical device start-up environment. This role presents an extraordinary opportunity for the right individual to make substantial contributions to a novel medical robotic platform.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the core leadership team to formulate product and execution strategies.
  • Work cross-functionally to ensure the delivery of a safe, effective, and reliable endoscope from initial development through to market launch.
  • Achieve ambitious cost, performance, and manufacturing objectives.
  • Establish and adhere to realistic yet challenging timelines.
  • Guide and mentor junior team members.
  • Provide technical input on established and emerging catheter/endoscope technologies, including:
    • Coiling, braiding, and laser-cut hypotubes
    • Extrusions and films
    • Steering and bending sections
    • Thermal and adhesive bonding
    • Coatings

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Over 15 years of hands-on experience in robotics and/or medical device development, with a minimum of 8 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Demonstrated success in building and managing technical, cross-functional teams, particularly in regulated environments.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present technical information effectively.
  • Adaptability to work in a start-up setting and respond to evolving needs and priorities.
  • A strong drive and commitment to achieving success.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a similar discipline.
  • Experience in the development of articulating endoscopes and catheters.
  • Familiarity with composite structures, both experimentally and analytically.
  • A proven track record of guiding a product from concept to market launch.
  • Experience in a start-up environment.
  • Leadership experience in a team that successfully launched a medical robotic device.
  • Experience collaborating with healthcare providers in clinical settings.
