Senior Structural Design Engineer
Job Overview:
The position of Senior Structural Design Engineer demands a comprehensive understanding of civil and structural engineering principles. This role is pivotal in planning and executing independent tasks that require discernment in the assessment, selection, application, and modification of engineering methodologies, practices, and standards. The engineer will innovate solutions to challenges and create or adjust drawings, specifications, calculations, charts, and graphs while ensuring adherence to relevant codes and advancing engineering practices.
Key Responsibilities:
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Preparation and modification of civil and structural engineering calculations.
- Development of civil and structural engineering plans, designs, and layouts.
- Creation of civil and structural project specifications.
- Contribution to the civil and structural engineering sections of project proposals.
- Preparation of cost estimates related to civil and structural engineering projects.
Essential Duties:
- Provide mentorship and leadership to the Blackstone team, leveraging expertise in structural engineering.
- Consult with senior management on the advancement of structural technologies to enhance the company's position as a leading firm in civil litigation and defect analysis.
- Offer insights on prospective development opportunities.
- Conduct structural design and analysis calculations in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
- Prepare layouts and detailed designs for various projects.
- Create drawings for personal designs and generate sketches for incorporation by Designers/Drafters.
- Investigate design alternatives and document findings for ongoing projects.
- Review and assess shop drawings.
- Assume the role of lead engineer for all assigned projects.
- Estimate probable construction costs for company projects.
- Recruit, direct, and oversee the activities of other Engineers and Designers/Drafters.
- Coordinate efforts with other disciplines, including architectural, mechanical, and electrical teams.
- Manage routine contract administration tasks.
- Utilize computer-aided engineering and design software to produce engineering documentation.
- Participate in client meetings and discussions.
- Conduct field activities, including observing and documenting existing conditions and verifying measurements within project areas.
- Organize, draft, and coordinate technical documentation.
- Demonstrate capability and experience in managing and executing projects in a dynamic environment.
