Job Summary

Animal and Plant Health Agency is a leading organization in the field of animal and plant health, and we are seeking a highly skilled Egg Marketing Inspector to join our team. As an Egg Marketing Inspector, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and safety of eggs produced for human consumption.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular inspections of egg production facilities, packing stations, wholesalers, and importers to ensure compliance with regulations and industry standards.
  • Verify the quality and weight of eggs, as well as the accuracy of labeling and packaging.
  • Apply regulatory and enforcement action when non-compliances and contraventions are found.
  • Conduct complex record reconciliations, audit trails, and sampling to check claims made on egg packs and labeling.
  • Manual handling of boxes and equipment.
  • Hygiene inspections at egg production sites.
  • Obtaining samples under the National Control Plan for layer flocks.
  • Compliance checking for Free Range and Barn Production Units under welfare legislation.
  • Collection of samples on behalf of the Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD).
Requirements
  • Able to manage own workload and plan work efficiently.
  • Able to communicate confidently and effectively with customers and colleagues.
  • High standard of interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Able to use various IT platforms such as Word and Excel.
  • Driving is an essential part of the job for all Egg Marketing Inspectors. Jobholders are required, therefore, to have a valid driving license.
  • All candidates must have demonstrable skills in written and spoken English to enable effective communication with customers and colleagues.
