The Fairbanks North Star Borough School District is seeking a skilled Custodian to join our team. As a Custodian, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, appearance, and sanitation of assigned facilities. This includes performing manual and equipment-assisted heavy cleaning and light maintenance duties.
Key Responsibilities- Perform manual and equipment-assisted heavy cleaning and light maintenance duties
- Properly use and apply materials, products, and equipment to maintain facilities
- Complete safety checks and monitor mechanical systems
- May be assigned to the carpet crew, grounds crew, or other districtwide custodial duties
- May serve as weekend building rental monitor, depending on assigned shift
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Physical fitness, strength, agility, and stamina to work on ladders, scaffolding, and roofs
- Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. waist high, be on feet for prolonged periods, and perform light to medium manual tasks
- Basic knowledge of minor building maintenance
- Ability to read, write, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions in English
- Strong customer service and communications skills in English (for weekend building rental monitors)
