Job Summary:

The Interventional Radiology Technologist performs tasks that provide support during invasive neurologic, vascular, and non-vascular procedures. VIR cases include neurology, vascular surgery, interventional radiology, and nephrology. The interventional radiology technologist functions under the direction of the Interventional physicians.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepares and positions patients and selects anatomic and technical parameters accurately.
  • Prepares and administers contrast media and medications within the accepted scope of practice and applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Observes patient during procedure and reports abnormal activity. Monitors protocols and recommends updates or refinements as warranted.
  • Circulate and scrub complex IR/neuro procedures.
  • Support OR Vascular surgery cases as needed.
  • Responsible for billing/coding of procedures performed.
  • Follows radiation safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Ensures all activities comply with regulatory agency standards.
  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of radiology program.
  • No experience required but 2 years experience preferred.
