Position Overview
We are seeking a talented individual to fill the role of Buyer. Key Responsibilities
  • Assess component requirements through forecasting, purchase requisitions, and departmental requests.
  • Issue purchase orders based on identified needs.
  • Conduct bid evaluations to compare pricing from various suppliers, selecting the most appropriate vendor based on cost, quality, and delivery.
  • Collaborate with Engineering on technical specifications for components.
  • Coordinate with the Finance Department regarding documentation for incoming components.
  • Facilitate component transitions in partnership with Engineering and Inventory Departments.
  • Monitor cost savings and increases on components, reporting findings to Executive Management.
  • Investigate alternative suppliers and assist Engineering in testing and approving components.
  • Provide reports on inventory levels and vendor delivery performance.
  • Manage daily communications with suppliers.
  • Work with Quality Control on vendor quality issues and corrective action plans.
  • Coordinate with the Receiving Department on vendor shipments.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Physical and Mental Requirements
This role requires effective communication skills, both verbal and written. The employee will frequently use hands and fingers, reach with arms, and may need to sit for extended periods. Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities are essential, along with the capacity to remain composed under pressure.Work Environment
  • The work environment is moderately quiet, but may involve handling unexpected situations, managing multiple inquiries simultaneously, and occasional travel.
Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree in Business Administration or a related field, or a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a purchasing role, preferably within a manufacturing context.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Business, Purchasing, or a related field is preferred.
  • At least 3 years of purchasing experience, ideally in a manufacturing setting.
  • Purchasing and/or supply chain certifications are advantageous.
Skills and Abilities
  • Strong communication skills for interaction with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Basic knowledge of inventory control processes.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems, Microsoft applications, and other relevant software.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Competence in basic mathematical calculations.
  • Highly organized and capable of working independently.
Salary Range
$55,000-$75,000
