Job Summary

The Public Safety Officer plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and security of NCH Healthcare's patients, visitors, and staff. This position requires a high level of attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patrol assigned property and grounds to prevent and investigate criminal activity, including arson, theft, and vandalism.
  • Monitor and respond to security, fire, and environmental alarms, and assist in follow-up as necessary.
  • Respond to emergency calls for assistance and disasters, and provide support to patients, families, and staff.
  • Investigate unusual incidents reported by NCH staff, visitors, physicians, and patients, and complete reports and incident documentation as necessary.
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients, families, visitors, and staff, and handle disruptive individuals with good verbal intervention techniques.
  • Operate NCH vehicles in accordance with the rules and regulations of the NCH Healthcare System.
Requirements
  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in security or law enforcement preferred.
  • Must have valid Florida driver's license and successfully pass a DMV check.
  • Required to have the Basic Security Certification from IAHSS within one year from hire and renewed every 2 years.
  • Required to have CPR/AED certification within one year from hire.
