Substitute Cook

Job Summary:

We are seeking a reliable and skilled Substitute Cook to join our team at Glenview Public School District #34. As a Substitute Cook, you will be responsible for assisting in food preparation, serving food, and maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in food preparation, including sanitizing food preparation areas, reading menus, collecting supplies, and turning on equipment.
• Assist with the breakfast program as needed, including preparing, cooking, and serving food according to proper codes.
• Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment, including daily cleaning of all food preparation and service areas, equipment, and serving items.
• Interact with the Food Services Director, principal, teachers, and students on a regular basis.
• Assist with cashier responsibilities as needed, including posting students' daily lunch account deposits to PowerSchool and preparing deposits.
• Assist in ordering supplies, maintaining inventory, and completing daily reports.

Requirements:

• Kitchen experience is a plus, but not required.
• Strong interest in cooking and working with children is essential.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills are necessary for interacting with students, staff, and administration.
• Basic math and computer skills are required for tasks such as ordering supplies and maintaining inventory.
• Successful completion of the district food service test is required.
• Illinois Sanitation Certificate is preferred.
• Must provide own transportation.

Working Conditions:

This position requires the ability to lift and carry up to 36 pounds and to push or pull up to 100 pounds. It also requires strong vision and hearing for communication with students and staff and for proper preparation of food and reading labels.

Hourly Pay:
$17.50/hr
