Paraprofessional Assistant

The Allegheny Intermediate Unit is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Paraprofessional to join our team. As a Paraprofessional, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational needs of students with special needs.

1. Assist students with daily living activities, such as toileting and feeding, as needed.
2. Prepare and operate instructional equipment and materials, including audio/visual equipment, iPads, and Smartboards.
3. Assist with emergency situations, such as first aid and crisis intervention.
4. Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment.
5. Update attendance records and data collection, as required.
6. Assist with feeding and supervising students in the cafeteria.
7. Participate in parent/teacher conferences and IEP conferences, as requested.
8. Interact and assist in the supervision of students during work-instructed assignments, play activities, and emergency drills.
9. Perform reinforcement instructional services, as delegated by the certified professional.
10. Follow and implement IEPs, including behavioral intervention plans.
11. Attend training sessions, as required, to enhance job performance.

• Associates degree or equivalent number of college credits.
• 1-2 years' experience working with children with special needs, preferred.
• Training in crisis intervention, CPR, and First Aid, preferred.
• Ability to work as part of the educational team.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to speak clearly and distinctly.
• Ability to prioritize identified needs of students.

The physical demands of this job include sitting, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling. The ability to kneel, crouch, bend, and reach is also required. Adequate vision and hearing are necessary for the performance of duties.
