Job Description:

The Pathfinders program at Intermountain Healthcare is a career development initiative for individuals seeking entry-level positions in healthcare. This program is specifically designed for caregivers who participate in the Pathfinders CNA program, offering a supportive environment for career growth and advancement.

As a Certified Nursing Assistant, you will work closely with the patient care team to provide clinical support and assistance. Your responsibilities will include prioritizing patient care, delivering basic care services, and assisting with admission, discharge, and transfer of patients. You will also be expected to provide excellent customer service, report and record patient care findings, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team for best patient care.

Key qualities for this role include strong written and verbal communication skills, basic life support certification, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Additionally, you must be enrolled in the Pathfinders program and able to lift and transport patients as needed.

Essential Functions:
  • Prioritize and deliver basic patient care, including toileting, bathing, linen and clothing changes, fresh water and ice, ambulating, comfort measures, and other patient needs.
  • Assist with admission, discharge, and transfer of patients.
  • Provide excellent customer service when responding to patient and family requests.
  • Report and record patient care findings and data in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate and consult with RN and other members of the interdisciplinary team for best patient care.
  • Perform non-nursing duties as delegated, such as cleaning, stocking, answering phones, and providing directions.
Required Qualifications:
  • Must be enrolled in the Pathfinders program.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic Life Support certification for healthcare providers is required and will be obtained as part of the Pathfinder CNA program.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
  • Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy.
  • Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients.
