Job Summary

Sanitas Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Primary Care Physician and Medical Director to join our team in Cape Coral, FL. This is a full-time role that requires a strong leader who can provide high-quality patient care and oversee the operations of our medical center.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide primary patient care and lead practices in the Southwest Region.
  • Oversee the coordination and quality of services provided at the center level.
  • Ensure proper functioning of day-to-day operations of the facility, in coordination with clinic staff, to provide consistent quality of care to patients.
  • Deliver medical services to patients of the center.
  • Oversee the activities of group providers, analyze results, and provide feedback.
  • Provide leadership for activities related to the delivery of medical care and clinical services, such as cost management, utilization review, and quality assurance.
  • Collaborate in the development and periodic review of written clinical policies, guidelines, and protocols for the functioning of the clinic and responsibilities of the clinicians.
  • Supervise risk coding, HEDIS quality metric completion by group providers, and provide feedback.
  • Participate in the recruitment and selection process for medical providers and other clinic staff.
  • Plan, assign, and direct work; assess and appraise providers' performance.
  • Assume responsibility for the quality of medical services rendered to patients by monitoring quality and appropriateness of care.
  • Provide guidance and leadership for performance guidelines.
  • Oversee clinical peer review.
  • Provide supervision of continuing professional education, in-service training, and orientation of new medical staff.
  • Provide key input to the development of care delivery policies and procedures.
  • Oversee documentation and care planning.
  • Perform periodic review of practice management functions.
  • Address emergency issues.
  • Assure a high standard of medical care by reviewing results of patient satisfaction surveys; review and handle clinical patient complaints.
  • Maintain OSHA, ACHA, emergency preparedness, infection control, and regulatory compliance for the clinic.
  • Support provider education, in-service training, and orientation of new medical staff.
  • Provide professional oversight for advanced practice nurses (ARNP) and/or physician assistants (PAs) with collaboration agreements.
  • Handle provider behavior and impairment issues.
  • Analyze, manage, and develop improvement plans for adverse events as well as patient complaints/issues that arise from medical care.
  • Lead physician governance committees, including Medical Records Quality Committee, Infection Diseases Committee, and Adverse Events Committee.
  • Participate and lead in future development projects for the organization.
  • Deliver direct patient care within the clinic scope of practice.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the executive team.
Supervisory Responsibilities

This position manages all employees of the department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of employees within that department.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to work standing up, walk, use hands to operate tools and equipment, and must be able to exert regularly up to 10 pounds of force, frequently exert 30 pounds of force, and occasionally exert 50 pounds of force to constantly perform the essential job functions.

The employee will be frequently required to reach with hands and arms, bend, balance, kneel, crouch, crawl, push, and pull.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

The employee is subject to environmental conditions; protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.

The worker is subject to noise; there may be sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level.

Required Education and Experience

MD or DO from an accredited school of medicine.

Unrestricted license to practice medicine in the selected state.

Any combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described, including related work experience.

Preferred Education and Experience

Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish.

Board certified in one of the primary care specialties.

At least two years of experience as a primary care physician and one year as a Medical Director.

At least two years of experience working with a multi-cultural patient population delivering patient-centric programs that are high quality and cost-effective.

Work Environment

This position requires working in a fast-paced medical environment with frequent interruptions and deadlines.

The employee will be required to work in a clinic setting with exposure to patients, medical staff, and other healthcare professionals.

The employee will be required to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with colleagues, patients, and other stakeholders.
