Job Description

Mass Audubon is seeking an experienced educator to join our Metro West team as an Out-of-School Field Teacher. This role involves developing and implementing hands-on, youth-driven, nature-based programming for afterschool programs and community groups, promoting Mass Audubon's mission of protecting the nature of Massachusetts for wildlife and people.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Education Coordinators to design and deliver nature-based educational programs that align with Massachusetts classroom curriculum standards.
  • Implement nature/science education programming for afterschool programs, community groups, and families, ensuring educational and outreach outcomes.
  • Facilitate deep-impact nature exploration experiences for afterschool and community groups of varying sizes and age ranges.
  • Assist with planning and development of new programs and activities as needed.
  • Maintain a professional work environment, ensuring the safety and comfort of program participants in all indoor and outdoor environments.
Qualifications

We are looking for applicants with experience as an educator, working with diverse groups, and implementing best practices in inclusion. Strong organizational, time management, oral, and written communication skills are essential. Proficiency in standard business software and a valid driver's license or reliable transportation are also required.

Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree in education, environmental education, or a related field, and proficiency in Spanish and/or Portuguese language.

Work Schedule

Scheduling is based on program bookings, with afterschool programs running weekday afternoons from September through mid-June. Must be able to commit to running weekly afterschool programs 1 to 3 afternoons a week.
