Job Overview

Position Summary

The Irrigation Systems Specialist, working under the guidance of the golf course superintendent and/or the assistant superintendent, is tasked with the programming, operation, and upkeep of the golf course irrigation systems. This role involves monitoring turf quality and reporting any discrepancies to the appropriate supervisory staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily maintenance and operational functionality of the irrigation systems and pump stations across the golf course.
  • Regularly inspect the irrigation system and perform necessary repairs.
  • Assist in managing projects related to landscaping and irrigation on the golf course.
  • Notify the superintendent or assistant superintendent of any issues regarding turf quality.
  • Help prioritize daily irrigation tasks to ensure efficient operations.
  • Participate in daily maintenance activities, including mowing greens, fairways, and other designated areas as required.
  • Support cultivation practices such as aeration, verticutting, and operation of spraying equipment.
  • Operate portable pumps and other equipment as directed.
  • Manage daily water cycles through the central control system.
  • Process requests for irrigation supplies and parts.
  • Utilize irrigation heads in areas requiring additional water.
  • Maintain and update daily water usage logs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Ensure consistent attendance and reliability in work schedule as per business needs.
  • Engage in special projects and other responsibilities as requested.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in irrigation system maintenance, including wells, pumps, and drainage control methods.
  • Familiarity with the Toro Lynx Central Command Irrigation System and associated equipment.
  • Combination of education, experience, and training that equips the candidate with necessary skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and schedule irrigation repairs effectively.
  • Experience in troubleshooting low voltage electrical systems related to irrigation.
  • Basic knowledge of electricity and hydraulics as they pertain to irrigation systems.
  • Proficient in the safe operation of tractors, mowers, and other motorized equipment.
  • Capable of working collaboratively with the team in daily operations.
  • Physical capability to perform required tasks, including strength and stamina.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to drive a manual transmission vehicle is preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Must obtain and maintain a valid Soboba Tribal Gaming Commission license.
  • Required to pass drug and alcohol testing.
  • Possession of a valid California Driver's License with a clean driving record (fewer than 3 points).
