Child Care Professional

Hamilton County Department of Education is seeking a dedicated and caring individual to join our team as a Child Care Assistant. In this role, you will provide supervised care and a positive environment for children enrolled in the School Age Child Care Program.
Responsibilities:- Act in a professional, respectful, courteous, and caring manner at all times.
- Create a customer-focused climate and provide quality services and support to school and other stakeholders.
- Comply with applicable district, state, and federal codes, laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures.
- Provide supervised care, monitor children's activities, and provide a safe, nurturing environment for children enrolled in the School Age Child Care Program before school, after school, during summer vacation, or at other scheduled times.
- Follow safety procedures, utilize safety equipment, and monitor areas occupied by children to ensure safety of students, employees, and other individuals; remove any hazards from child care environment; dispose of biohazardous materials per established procedures; report potentially hazardous or dangerous situations to supervisor.
- Plan, coordinate, conduct, and/or participate in various indoor/outdoor activities for children appropriate to each age group.
- Provide care and activities for students needing special accommodations with appropriate adaptations.
- Communicate through the proper channels to keep supervisor and other appropriate personnel informed of impending problems or events of unusual nature.
- Respond to emergency situations; provide first aid or basic medical care to ill/injured children; determine need to call emergency personnel; dispense required medication as directed and complete medication logs; notify parents of injuries/illnesses; complete accident reports as required.
- Process various documentation associated with child care activities.
- Monitor inventory levels of supplies and food items and initiate requests for new/replacement items.
- Follow established procedures to ensure assigned areas are safe.
- Work collaboratively with all stakeholders.
- Attend work and arrive to work on time.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Travel to other school locations as directed by area supervisors based on staffing needs and efficient operation of Child Care Program.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience in child care or early childhood education preferred; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
- Must obtain and maintain a valid CPR and First Aid Certification.
