Maintenance Technician Job Description

Schnitzer Investment Corp. is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of maintenance and janitorial tasks to ensure the upkeep and maintenance of our properties.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Preventative Maintenance: Schedule and perform routine preventative maintenance and work orders as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor and Property Manager.
  • Janitorial Services: Maintain curb appeal and general cleanliness of exterior properties, including walks, patios, walls, garbage enclosures, etc.
  • Property Inspections: Physically tour properties looking for items needing repair, safety hazards, and overall condition, alerting the Supervisor as needed.
  • Utility Management: Knowledge of water and gas meter shut-offs and sewer clean-outs.
  • Workshop and Tool Maintenance: Maintain clean and safe work spaces, mechanical rooms, and electrical rooms, and perform preventative maintenance on tools.
  • Inventory Management: Responsible for ordering or coordinating the ordering of parts for properties and maintaining inventory.
  • Space Turnovers: Perform duties related to space turnovers in the scheduled time frame.
  • Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot and repair general electrical, plumbing systems, appliances, and perform painting, drywall/plaster repair, and carpentry tasks.
  • Teamwork: Participate in maintenance, fire alarm, safety, and training meetings, assist maintenance staff and team members as directed, and adhere to all safety policies and use personal safety equipment.
  • Administrative Duties: Perform administrative duties, including organized systems for invoices and paperwork processing.
  • On-Call: Participate in the rotate on-call system, covering buildings for emergency calls.
  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service to community prospects and residents encountered daily, representing Schnitzer Investment Corp. in a positive and professional manner at all times.
Requirements:
  • Experience: Minimum of two years of experience in maintenance/janitorial work.
  • Knowledge: General knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, and janitorial.
  • Skills: Possesses and displays a mechanical aptitude, understanding of blueprints/schematics, and utilizes good customer service skills.
  • Education: No formal education required.
  • License/Certificate: Valid Driver License and good driving record.
