Position Overview: Construction Estimator

Job Summary: Are you dedicated to providing precise and comprehensive cost evaluations for construction endeavors? As a Construction Estimator at McDaniels Construction, your expertise will be essential in reviewing project specifications, performing quantity takeoffs, liaising with suppliers and subcontractors, and crafting competitive bids. We seek an individual with outstanding attention to detail, strong analytical capabilities, and the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders to ensure the success of our projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Reviewing project plans, specifications, and related documentation to create detailed cost estimates
  • Executing thorough quantity takeoffs from construction drawings
  • Engaging with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing
  • Maintaining a centralized database of costs for future reference
  • Suggesting cost-effective alternatives while maintaining quality standards
  • Drafting comprehensive bid proposals that comply with project specifications
  • Conducting post-project cost evaluations for continuous improvement
  • Keeping abreast of industry trends and construction costs
  • Collaborating closely with project team members to provide cost-related insights
  • Identifying opportunities to enhance estimating processes
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Demonstrated experience as a Construction Estimator within the construction sector
  • Ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings proficiently
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills with a keen eye for detail
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Knowledge of construction materials, methods, and industry best practices
  • Familiarity with construction estimating software and tools
  • Effective communication and negotiation abilities
  • Capacity to work collaboratively in a team-oriented setting
  • A degree in Construction Management or a related field is preferred
