The Gas Foreman is a key leadership role within MasTec Inc, responsible for overseeing the installation and repair of natural gas pipelines and joint trench utilities. This position requires a strong focus on safety, productivity, and quality, with a proven track record of leading high-performing teams.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee and coordinate crew work to install natural gas pipelines via open-cut or directional drill methods.
- Obtain all necessary licenses, permits, and materials for each job.
- Ensure all work quality related to each project is met, and assume full responsibility for its standard and timeliness.
- Coordinate and delegate daily tasks to crew members related to digging and placing product.
- Gain entry to site buildings for work crew and call in utilities located at each project site.
- Facilitate daily toolbox talks and weekly safety inspections to ensure the crews work safely.
- Complete all paperwork in a timely manner.
- Train new hires and trainees to learn the trade.
- Track employee hours and submit for payroll on a timely basis.
- Call in utilities located at each project site.
- Inspect existing utilities are properly identified and exposed, to ensure piping is correctly installed and fused, job meets customer specifications, and it meets company quality standards.
- Drive, haul, and/or operate equipment to/from job sites to assist crews in completion of work.
- Keep the job(s) moving on time, clean up, and perform job restoration at the end of job.
- Communicate with customers and inspectors.
- High school diploma, or equivalent.
- 3 years of gas pipeline construction or maintenance experience.
- 2 years of supervisory experience.
- Class A CDL.
- OSHA 10 certification.
- 5 or more years of gas pipeline construction experience.
- Operator Qualification (OQ).
- Pipe fusion certification.
- DOT Flagger certification.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
This job operates in a field environment, requiring extended periods of physical activity, including bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, and working in inclement weather conditions. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
