Job Title: Medical Assistant- Float

About the Role:

The Medical Assistant- Float role at Oak Street Health is a vital part of our care team. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a key role in ensuring our patients receive the highest quality care. Your responsibilities will include gathering medical information, assisting with screenings and diagnostic testing, and collaborating with our care team to provide an unmatched patient experience.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure efficient patient flow by rooming patients in a timely manner, completing vital signs, and conducting required screenings and medication reviews.
• Inventory supplies and stock exam rooms to ensure a smooth patient experience.
• Respond to patient requests for telephonic support, including lab results and faxing records to specialists.
• Administer vaccinations and perform point-of-care tests, including A1C, spirometry, EKGs, and blood draws for lab testing, in accordance with state regulations.
• Import required documents into our electronic medical record system via scanning or PDF upload.
• Participate in care team meetings to discuss patient care and clinic operations.
• Process orders for durable medical equipment and request medical records from external providers as required by the provider.
• Conduct routine quality control checks, including infection control measures, equipment checks, and expired medication and supply checks, and assist in maintaining our center lab.

Requirements:

• State or national certification as a medical assistant, or graduation from an accredited medical assistant course.
• 1 year of experience as a medical assistant.
• CPR or BLS certification.
• Electronic medical record experience.
• Computer skills, including the ability to quickly navigate and use multiple computer programs.
• Proficiency in non-English languages as required by the center's demographics.
• US work authorization.
