Job Opportunity

We are seeking a visionary leader to drive the research agenda of the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB). The successful candidate will be responsible for setting and guiding the research mission of the Department, leading various research initiatives, and mentoring faculty and resident physicians.

About the Role

The inaugural Vice Chair of Research will serve as a leader in advancing the research mission of the Department, with particular focus on enhancing the pipeline of researchers and increasing extramural funding. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative leader with a penchant for creative thinking and a proven ability to build and guide teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set and guide the research agenda for the Department
  • Lead various research initiatives
  • Mentor faculty and resident physicians
  • Enhance the pipeline of researchers
  • Increase extramural funding
Requirements

The successful candidate will have academic credentials for an appointment as an Associate Professor or Full Professor (Tenure Track). MD, DO, MD/PhD or PhD required. Research experience or expertise in the areas of Health Equity, Social Determinants of Health, Diabetes, Obesity, Hypertension, or Behavioral Medicine would be ideal.
