About the Position

This is a key leadership role within the Kansas State Department of Education, responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of IT strategic plans, policies, applications, computer services, network communications, and security controls.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the IT functions for KSDE, ensuring alignment with the department's goals and objectives.
  • Develop and implement IT strategic plans, policies, and procedures.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of applications, computer services, and network communications.
  • Ensure proper security controls are in place to protect KSDE's IT systems and data.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college.
  • Experience may be substituted for education as deemed relevant by the agency.
  • Preferred skills and qualifications include:
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a technical discipline.
    • Effective interpersonal, leadership, management, and supervisory skills.
    • Ability to write and speak effectively.
    • Knowledge of voice and data communications, computer processing, telecommunications, and database management systems.
Preferred Experience
  • A successful track record of increasingly responsible and complex information technology experience.
  • Professional background including experience planning and managing strategic and operational projects.
