Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Automation Technician I to join our team at Roseburg Forest Products. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing automation and process control systems for our manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop automation and process control systems that integrate PCs, PLCs, variable speed drives, motion control, and related process control systems.
  • Develop project documentation using corporate engineering standards, specifications, prints, and schematics.
  • Work closely with corporate engineering controls team and manufacturing IT team on implementing the latest standards on automation and data reporting systems.
  • Develop, configure, and debug control system programming including PLC's, OT networks, HMI, and/or specialty component software.
  • Lead and develop new technology with corporate engineering, consulting engineers, and equipment vendors.
  • Supervise installation quality.

  • Working knowledge of industry technological developments and best practices.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Oregon Journey Level Electrician (or ability to obtain) and/or Associates degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Science).
  • Experience in PLC programming with any of the following PLC's; Allen Bradley, Modicon, GE Fanuc, Siemens, Mitsubishi.
  • Prior experience in wood products facilities.
  • Prior manufacturing experience in 24/7 operations.
