Our 5 South Medical Unit is a dynamic and patient-centered environment, equipped with 33 beds and a negative pressure room for patients requiring isolation. We also have two single rooms for patients who require private care. Our average census is between 29-32 patients, and we utilize a video monitoring system to ensure frequent safety checks. We are capable of accepting patients requiring telemetry and prioritize patient and family-centered care through collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. We are also certified to perform peritoneal dialysis.

Scope of WorkThe Registered Nurse, under the American Nurses Association (ANA) scope of practice, utilizes the nursing process to provide professional nursing care. This includes assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and discharging patients. We prioritize patient and family-centered care principles and recognize the impact of nursing care on patient outcomes.
The Registered Nurse partners with patients and families to develop a plan of care, utilizing patient and family input and goals. We also develop teaching strategies for patients and families and document education and learning in the patient's health record.

- Bachelor's degree in Nursing required within 5 years
- Graduates from a non-accredited school of nursing must have at least one year of acute care experience or at least two years of experience in a licensed healthcare role and must have successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examination
- MI Registered Nurse (RN) required
- American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation Basic Life Support (BLS) required
