Position OverviewThe Neuro Surgical ICU RN plays a crucial role in collaborating with patients, their families, and the healthcare team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized treatment plans. This position is essential for achieving optimal patient outcomes and ensuring departmental success.
Key Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive care for patients experiencing critical illnesses, including managing ventilator support and responding to emergency situations.
- Facilitate the efficient flow of patients through screening, preparation for examinations, and general nursing care.
- Educate patients and their families regarding medications and treatment protocols.
- Maintain accurate patient records, including documenting tests and results.
- Administer medications in accordance with physician directives.
- Ensure availability of necessary supplies by conducting daily room checks.
- Handle incoming calls and perform phone triage as required.
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program with an Associate's Degree in Nursing or higher.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the practicing state or possession of an active Compact/Multi-State RN license.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from an accredited organization is mandatory.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred and must be obtained within a specified timeframe after hire.
- Completion of NIH Stroke Scale Certification within the designated period post-hire.
- A minimum of one year of experience in acute surgical critical care nursing is required.
