Responsibilities- Evaluate patients' functional status, including muscle function, endurance, visual coordination, written and verbal communication skills, self-care ability, and work capacity.
- Assess home environments for hazards or barriers to independent living and identify equipment needs.
- Develop treatment programs and establish goals for improved function, communicating plans of care to referring physicians and other healthcare professionals.
- Teach new skills or retrain patients in daily activities lost due to illness or injury.
- Fabricate splints and instruct patients in adaptive equipment use to improve function.
- Train patients in prosthetic and/or orthotic devices.
- Maintain accurate clinical records, notes, and reports on patient condition changes, submitting these in accordance with organizational policy.
- Cultivate collaboration among personnel involved in patient care, ensuring coordinated and efficient care.
- Attend and contribute to in-services, case conferences, and meetings as required by organization policy.
- Identify patient and family/caregiver needs for additional home health services and refer accordingly.
- Instruct family/caregivers and other healthcare personnel on patient treatment regimes when indicated.
- Supervise certified occupational therapy assistants according to organizational policies and state regulations.
- Graduate from an occupational therapy program accredited jointly by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation of the American Medical Association and the American Occupational Therapy Association.
- Registered with the National Registration Examination of the American Occupational Therapy Association.
- Minimum two years of clinical experience as an occupational therapist.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, and organization skills.
- Possess current CPR certification.
- Licensed driver with a reliable vehicle insured according to organizational requirements.
$64,000 - $80,000 per year (based on experience)
