Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Paramedic to join our team at Bon Secours Mercy Health. As a Paramedic, you will provide direct patient care under the guidance of a RN or designated healthcare professional.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to routine transport requests and emergency 911 calls.
  • Assist in securing the accident scene as needed.
  • Determine the nature and extent of illness/injury, establish priority for required emergency care, and render such care to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
  • Establish radio communications as required with a medical facility.
  • Complete run reports detailing patient care.
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness and ensure that equipment has been replaced and that vehicles are in proper operating condition.
  • Perform various duties and patient care activities in the Emergency Room under the direction of a Registered Nurse and/or physician.
  • Assist on nursing units as requested.
  • Promote the institution's philosophy, mission, and values during all interactions with patients, families, staff, and others.
Requirements
  • BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care)
  • ACLS – AHA (Advanced Cardiac Life Support - American Heart Association) (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care)
  • PALS – AHA (Pediatric Advanced Life Support - American Heart Association) (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care)
  • Current paramedic-level certification (required)
  • Valid State of Ohio driver license with a driving record which permits insurability under the hospital's insurance coverage (required)
  • High School Diploma or GED (required)
  • Successful completion of a Paramedic program at the certificate or associates degree level (required)
Working Conditions

Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur. Long-distance or air travel as needed, not to exceed 10% travel. General office environment. May be exposed to high noise levels and bright lights. May be exposed to physical altercations and verbal abuse. May be exposed to limited hazardous substances or body fluids. May be required to use physical restraints. May be exposed to human blood and other potentially infectious materials. May be exposed to adverse weather conditions; cold, hot, dust, wind, etc. May have periods of constant interruptions. Required to car travel to off-site locations, occasionally in adverse weather conditions. Prolonged periods of working alone.
