Job Title: CytotechnologistOverview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Cytotechnologist to play a critical role in examining cellular samples to detect abnormalities and assist in the diagnosis of diseases, particularly cancerous and pre-cancerous conditions.
Responsibilities:- Examine and analyze cellular samples under a microscope for abnormalities or evidence of disease.
- Perform screening and interpretation of Pap smears, fine needle aspirations, and other cytology specimens.
- Identify and document abnormal cells or structures and prepare detailed reports for pathologists.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of findings to healthcare providers.
- Maintain proficiency in cytological techniques and stay updated on new developments in the field.
- Adhere to quality control and quality assurance protocols to ensure accurate results.
- Collaborate with pathologists and other healthcare professionals to discuss findings and aid in patient diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Assist in the training and supervision of laboratory personnel as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Cytotechnology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field.
- Certification as a Cytotechnologist (CT) by a recognized accrediting agency (e.g., ASCP).
- Experience working in a clinical laboratory setting, preferably in cytology.
- Proficiency in screening gynecological and non-gynecological specimens.
- Strong knowledge of cytological techniques and interpretation.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work accurately under pressure.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Understanding of laboratory safety and infection control practices.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage workload efficiently.
