Job Title: Cytotechnologist

Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Cytotechnologist to play a critical role in examining cellular samples to detect abnormalities and assist in the diagnosis of diseases, particularly cancerous and pre-cancerous conditions.

Responsibilities:
  • Examine and analyze cellular samples under a microscope for abnormalities or evidence of disease.
  • Perform screening and interpretation of Pap smears, fine needle aspirations, and other cytology specimens.
  • Identify and document abnormal cells or structures and prepare detailed reports for pathologists.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of findings to healthcare providers.
  • Maintain proficiency in cytological techniques and stay updated on new developments in the field.
  • Adhere to quality control and quality assurance protocols to ensure accurate results.
  • Collaborate with pathologists and other healthcare professionals to discuss findings and aid in patient diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Assist in the training and supervision of laboratory personnel as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Cytotechnology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field.
  • Certification as a Cytotechnologist (CT) by a recognized accrediting agency (e.g., ASCP).
  • Experience working in a clinical laboratory setting, preferably in cytology.
  • Proficiency in screening gynecological and non-gynecological specimens.
  • Strong knowledge of cytological techniques and interpretation.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work accurately under pressure.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Understanding of laboratory safety and infection control practices.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage workload efficiently.
