Job Summary

The Clinical Support Specialist will play a vital role in ensuring the efficient operation and patient care within the physician services department. This individual will assist in providing clinical care to select patients under the supervision of a professional nurse or licensed medical practitioner and provide clerical office assistance.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Preparation and Clinical Duties
  • Prepare exam rooms, treatment rooms, supplies, and instruments to ensure a smooth clinical experience.
  • Assist patients in preparation for physician visits and examinations, adhering to established protocols.
  • Take patients' vital signs and record them in medical charts, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Understand and operate special equipment, ensuring proper function and maintenance.
  • Perform various lab tests, including EKG, PFT, Audiometry, Titmus Test, UDS, BAT, Phlebotomy, and other tests as indicated after completing a performance evaluation checklist.
Administrative Duties
  • Maintain patient records, file records, and reports as directed, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with regulations.
  • Assist with collections and billing procedures, providing support for revenue cycle management.
  • Utilize computer software to maintain office systems, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
  • Identify and respond to confidentiality issues, upholding the highest standards of patient privacy.
Patient Care and Support
  • Identify the needs of the patient population served and modify and deliver care specific to those needs, demonstrating cultural competence and empathy.
Requirements
  • Education and Certifications
    • High School diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED).
    • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
    • BLS-AHA certification.
  • Experience and Skills
    • Minimum of 2 years of prior experience in Pulmonology.
    • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively and supportively with varying populations.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities.
    • Knowledge of computerized processes and data entry procedures, with proficiency in relevant software systems.
  • Certifications and Licensure
    • Must hold any of the following certifications:
    • CMA-NHA (National Healthcareer Association)
    • CMA-NCCT (National Center for Competency Testing)
    • CMA-AAMA (American Association of Medical Assistants)
    • RMA-AMT (American Medical Technologists)
    • RMA-NAHP (National Association for Health Professionals)
    • AMCA (American Medical Certification Association)
    • NCMA (National Certification Medical Association)
