Job Summary

The Baldwin School is seeking a highly qualified and experienced English teacher to fill a long-term substitute position in our Middle/Upper School. As a member of our faculty, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of our students and contribute to the school's mission of providing a world-class education.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach three sections of Grade 7 English and one section of Grade 9 English
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that meet the needs of all learners
  • Collaborate with other grade-level teachers to build cross-curricular connections and scaffold skills needed across all disciplines
  • Participate in department meetings and contribute to the development of curriculum and assessments
  • Serve as an advisor, club leader, chaperone, or other co-curricular leader in support of the Middle School
  • Other duties as assigned by the Division Director or Head of School
Requirements
  • B.A. in English required; M.A. in English and/or education preferred
  • 3 years of teaching experience, or its equivalent, preferably at the middle school level
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • A commitment to creating an inclusive classroom community that allows for a multitude of perspectives to be heard and respected
  • Expertise in differentiating instruction in reading and writing
  • Experience using academic technology software and classroom technology
