Grain Procurement Specialist

This position as a Grain Procurement Specialist involves extensive collaboration with producers to source grain, establish marketing initiatives, and manage logistics to meet financial objectives. The ideal candidate will be a proactive individual who can work autonomously, pay attention to detail, and foster strong relationships with clients. Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and sustain long-term partnerships with producers, transporters, and end-users.
- Oversee customer accounts and address all account-related matters promptly to ensure excellent service.
- Comprehend grain markets and industry reports, analyzing fluctuations in market trends.
- Gain insights into competitors' values and activities.
- Understand supply chain management, including truck and rail logistics.
- Collaborate closely with the grain merchandising team to implement effective trading and risk management strategies.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work internally with other merchandisers, hedge desk, accounting, and transportation teams to share information as necessary.
- Identify new market opportunities and contribute to brand development to grow the business.
- Become acquainted with all physical plant operations, including safety protocols, grading, and transportation procedures.
- Assist in planning, developing, and executing grain merchandising strategies and objectives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

- Familiarity with the agricultural industry.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- A bachelor's degree is preferred in Agricultural Business, Economics, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or a related field.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent mathematical skills.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and a positive, proactive attitude; strong work ethic, self-motivated, requiring minimal supervision, and exhibiting a high level of initiative.
- Willingness to work additional hours during peak periods.
- A valid driver's license is required.
- Must be capable of lifting up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities are necessary, including close and distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
